Expected Manchester United XI To Face Blackburn

Manchester United have been in great form and have lost only 4 games in all competitions this season. It has been a remarkable journey for United under Mourinho and have played well after struggling initially. The Red Devils have their eyes set on 3 cup competitions and FA cup is one them, with Europa League and EFL cup being the other two. It would be a great season for United if they manage to win any of the 3 trophies and will be a successful season for them if they do. A top four finish also looks to be within reach and it would be great if United manage to achieve all the four targets.

Team News:

United have four players doubtful for the clash with Phil Jones, Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all set to face late fitness tests before a decision is made on their inclusion in the team.

Expected lineup:

Formation 4-2-3-1

Goalkeeper: Sergio Romero

The second fiddle to De Gea, Romero has been decent this season in front of goal and should be given a start by Jose Mourinho.

Right Fullback: Matteo Darmian

The Italian will get a chance in his preferred right-back spot to give Antonio Valencia a much-needed rest this weekend.

Centre Half: Chris Smalling

The English defender has been in a decent form off late and Mourinho should stick with him for this game against Blackburn.

Centre Half: Phil Jones

The Englishman has done well since coming back from injury and he might get to play yet again and partner Chris Smalling at the back.

Left Fullback: Luke Shaw

Jose Mourinho insisted in a presser earlier that Shaw must be patient and wait for his chances. This game might very well be the one and the youngster must look to take full advantage of it.

Central Midfield: Bastian Schweinsteiger

Schweinsteiger was included in the Europa league squad for Manchester United and might get his chance to play a crucial role in the final third of the season for the 20-time English Champions.

Central Midfield: Marouane Fellaini

Fellaini has been criticized by the Manchester United fans this season and has been low on confidence. However, the manager still believes in the player and that is why he is still at the club. Expect him to start a few games starting from Blackburn.

Attacking Midfield: Jesse Lingard

The academy product has impressed whenever he has played and the manager seems to be impressed with the boy’s talent. He might get to play on Sunday.

Left Wing: Anthony Martial

After being left out of the team for a while, Martial has risen from setbacks and has been sizzling for United recently. He looks to back to his own self and he looks confident on the pitch. Jose wouldn’t bench a player in this kind of form.

Right Wing: Ashley Young

Ashley Young has played a big role for United over the last few years and can be considered a crucial player in the squad who can be used in a variety of positions. He might get to play on Sunday.

Striker: Marcus Rashford

Rashford has been brilliant for United ever since he made his debut and has the full backing of his Portuguese manager. After losing his place to the resurgent Anthony Martial, he might start up front for United, with Zlatan expected to be given some rest.

Here’s how they may take the field.
