Manchester United rejected loan bids from Sevilla and West Ham for young star Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window, according to Express. Marcus Rashford has not been a regular starter for Man United, though it can be said that the player has earned the manager’s confidence.
West Ham were keen on signing Rashford on loan until the end of the season, as they looked to bolster their frontline by including Rashford, but the move seems to have not materialised.
Meanwhile, Sevilla have proved that they are a tough team to crack by remaining in 3rd place in the league standings after 22 games. They have been a revelation ever since Sampaoli took over as manager. Rashford would probably have been a great signing for the Spanish side but somehow, Marcus has remained a United player even after the end of the transfer window.
It seems like Man United are keen to hold on to the striker and not let him leave the club, even on a temporary basis. This highlights how important the English striker is for the club’s future plans.
Rashford was a sensation last season after his dream performances in his debut campaign. He literally nailed Arsenal’s title hopes by scoring on his Premier League debut, scoring on his European debut and also on his England National Team debut. He was considered as the next big thing in football and was praised by experts and legends for the way he responded after an unexpected breakthrough in his career at such a young age.
Credits must be given to Louis Van Gaal for unearthing such gems from the Manchester United Academy and promoting them to first team action without any hesitation.
He already has 14 goals in 49 appearances for the club and a lot of goals came to save United’s blushes, on more than just one occasion.
Rashford is a player who is quick, good with the ball and knows where to position himself inside the box while receiving the ball, thus highlighting his ability as a striker. His goals against Arsenal were a pure indication of how good he is in timing himself inside the box.
It is believed that United will not let Rashford depart Manchester, even if he wants to, as the club considers him an integral part of their future plans. It was also reported by Express that Rashford may consider his future at the club if his game time remains limited.
However, with United being so strong in their desire to keep hold of the young star, it might be difficult to force through a move away from the famous old Manchester club.
