Manchester United Transfer News – West Ham Wants This Dynamic Attacking Duo

Anthony Martial

Rashford-Martial - West Ham plot ambitious January loan move for Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford

According to the reports from the Telegraph, West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is plotting a shocking loan move for the Manchester United attacking duo Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Both the players have been their playing time being cut short and that is basically due to their inefficiency in front of the goal.

Anthony Martial started his United career in a fine fashion, as he ended up being the top scorer of the side last season, but his off the field problems and inconsistency on the field saw him being dropped out to the bench in the initial games. However, the manager did offer him a first team spot for many games in a row, but the former Monaco man failed to grab the opportunity and he has only one goal to his name this season.

Marcus Rashford, on the other hand, has seen his spot being taken by the big Swede of the club – Zlatan Ibrahimovic – and looking at how he is performing, it is very likely that Rashford won’t be getting his first team opportunity anytime soon. The manager tried to play an experiment by deploying Rashford on the wing and even though he gave some flashes of his brilliance, he failed to provide any kind of outcome in the final third.

Looking at this situation, West Ham United are plotting a loan deal for the duo and will be hoping to get something positive out of it. The Hammer, even after having a great season last term, are sitting 13th on the log and are in desperate need of some attacking force.

Previous, it was reported that the Hammers were trying to lure Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi – one of Hammer’s summer target – to join them at the Olympic Stadium, but it seems like the league leaders do have a role for the Belgium in the second half of the season and are quite reluctant to let him leave this early. With Diego Costa suspended, it is understood that the manager will use the former Ligue 1 man in the starting line next time.

As mentioned earlier, it is quite understood that the Hammers are willing to bring an attacking reinforcement and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is also a name in Bilic’s wish list. The Sun has reported that the Hammer’s directorial have put their contract talks with Bilic on hold and it is expected that if their form is not brought back on the track, the manager might be axed, hence, targeting these much of names do make sense.

Rashford started his last game for the Old Trafford outfit against the Hammers back in November and was substituted in an hour’s mark. It is reported that Mourinho wants Rashford to improve his quality on the pitch, but so far, the 19-year-old has struggled on the flank.

Martial, who scored twice against the Hammers in the League Cup, was dropped in United’s last two games, victories against West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace. The player himself admitted that he need to work on his consistency and as quoted by the Telegraph, he said:

“I think consistency is my big problem,” said Martial. “I have a tendency to have a good 35 minutes and I drop in the last 15. I think it’s mostly an endurance thing. I’ve improved my endurance a lot, but I know that if I improve it even more, I’ll be able to progress.”

West Ham know their chances of landing this promising attacking duo is slim, and also, Mourinho will not be willing to loose the young prospect hence, it would be beneficial for the Hammers to look elsewhere.
