A bright light was seen at Manchester United’s training ground this morning, as the 32-year-old German world cup winner – Bastian Schweinsteiger – was spotted training with the first team squad for the first time after being excluded from the squad by Jose Mourinho upon his arrival.

A lot was speculated and the former Porto, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea boss made it very clear that Schweinsteiger is not in his plans and if the 32-year-old tends to continue playing the sport, he must find a new club. Amidst all this, the recently retired German international claimed that Manchester United will be his last club in Europe.

He was then made to train with the reserves and the situation got worse when he was excluded from there as well. In the beginning – when United were flying high with three wins in a row – it was thought that the expertise of Schweinsteiger would no longer be needed, but as soon as the team began to fall down, many supporters felt the absence of the veteran midfielder and many now believe that he might end the misery for the side.

The injury prone 32-year-old German was spotted on the training ground this morning along with Wayne Rooney, who seemed extremely happy with his presence. With Ander Herrera set to miss the next couple of games due to his suspension and Fellaini returning no impressive goods, the return of Bastain on the pitch does make sense.

The manager – Jose Mourinho – is known for his harsh decisions and we have seen some top class players like Kaka, Casillas and Petr Cech leaving their respective clubs on a low note, hence, the situation of Schweinsteiger was no surprise. But it seems like the 32-year-old might play a role for United, who are currently sitting 8th in the Premier League log.

Besides the German, Phil Jones also trained with the squad and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as well. Whether Bastian will become a starter for the manager is yet to be seen, but seeing him in training with the senior squad has surely delighted many United supporters. The 32-year-old was a regular player for the former manager Louis van Gaal, but lack of fitness and constant injuries restricted Bastian to make just 13 Premier League appearances.

With Paul Pogba being a sure starter, at least five players – including Schweinsteiger – will be battling for the top spot and looking at the current situation, where Herrera is suspended and Fellaini is completely off his tracks, Bastian might make an appearance even though it is from the bench.

Manchester United are now preparing themselves for the Europa League showdown and this game might come too early for the German, but now, it is very fair to say that the day is not too far when the World Winner will be applauded once again on the pitch by the Old Trafford crowd.
