5 Worst Manchester United Performers Under Mourinho Including This £89m Signing – Agreed?

mourinho

After an excellent start to the campaign, where Manchester United won four matches out of four, including the Community Shield match against Leicester, things have stalled somewhat following the International break. Not only were Mourinho’s men completely outplayed by their city rivals Manchester City in the Manchester Derby last weekend but they suffered a shocking one-nil defeat against the Dutch club Feyenoord in the mid-week Europa League match. Many people were touting United for the title early on but now they have been given a jolting reality check. Except for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, no United player has been consistent till now, Eric Bailly started off brilliantly but has come under a lot of pressure over the past week.

Here are 5 five players who have let down Mourinho till now.

Paul Pogba

The world record signing is yet to hit his stride that made him such a midfield powerhouse at Juventus. The French international has been all over the place and doesn’t have a set role in the team as of now, something Mourinho might want to change now that the results aren’t going their way. The pressure is well and truly on Pogba now to prove his critics wrong but more importantly to appease the fans of ManchesterUnited.

Anthony Martial

The Frenchman started off brilliantly last season but since the turn-off year, his consistency has taken a major hit. He was very disappointing in the European Championship with the French National team as well. With half a dozen matches into the season, the 20-year-old is currently struggling to find a consistent footing in the starting XI.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin

Another French player who is struggling to get into the first team this season. With Pogba all but assured a starting spot given his transfer fee, Schneiderlin has been left to compete with Fellaini, Herrera and Carrick for the starting birth. The Belgian was dropped and Schneiderlin was given a chance in the match against Feyenoord and he was pretty solid until he lost his focus and allowed Vilhena to arrive unmarked and score.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Mkhitaryan arrival was greeted with a lot of excitement, however, the Armenian international is yet to find his feet in the English Premier League. After making a couple of substitute performances, Mourinho handed him the starting birth against City but after a dreadful first half, he was pulled back to the bench. Mourinho will be praying that the former Borussia Dortmund player soon finds his form otherwise it could be a long season for the 27-year-old.

Jesse Lingard

Another Louis Van Gaal favourite, who has been fairly invisible till now. He was another player who was given a chance in the Manchester Derby but disappointed majorly. After hacking him off at half-time against City, Mourinho dropped the 23-year-old for the mid-week Europa League match. The road back into the starting XI seems tougher than ever before for the English player.
