First Month Under The Special One – What Have We Seen So Far At Manchester United?

Three wins from three Premier League games. It has been a perfect start for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and the former Chelsea gaffer would be looking to continue this form against Manchester City as well.

Even with Pep Guardiola spending so much and making City a force to be reckoned with, Manchester United heads into the tie as the favourites. Cue a few years back and United weren’t even expected to put up a fight against City, especially during the first season of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

There is an air of confidence in the team and that was on show in their game against Hull City. While many have spoken about the big money signings at United, it was an academy product that bagged that late, late goal.

Marcus Rashford might not be a regular in the side anymore but his goal just showcased what Jose Mourinho has done to the team. Gone are the days of boring possession based football. The game featured a lot of attacking brand and that “never say die” attitude that Manchester United are known for.

The Red Devils kept on hammering at the Hull City goal. Mourinho’s side weren’t willing to give up and their perseverance paid off in the end. This has been missing from the United side ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. David Moyes and Louis van Gaal failed to bring in the “Fergie time” but Mourinho has certainly brought the favour back.

Big money signings perform from the go

Another aspect that Jose has gotten right is the signings. Louis van Gaal spent a lot of money as well but his signings rarely made an impact from the get-go. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba have been on fire from day one and should lead them to a trophy or two this season.

The Premier League club is playing like champions at the moment and Mourinho has been the reason for that. Surprisingly, the manager has not become the Mourinho of old as he has stopped his attitude of having a pop at officials and other managers. That could take place as soon as United start drawing but for now, he has gotten more right than wrong.

The season has only just started but United look like a real threat for the Premier League title. They are clicking and everything is peachy. Mourinho has been a breath of fresh air and United are playing great football as well, something that no one would have imagined.

Things can only get better for the side, as long as Mourinho keeps his cool, though. A win against City and they could well be on their way to create another dynasty with the Special One.
