“I have 23 players in the squad and in principle nobody is leaving because I don’t want anybody to leave and nobody is coming — 23 players is more than enough.

“If you have any kind of problem or opportunity I have a few young players in the academy that I will be more than happy to give them an acceleration in their process.”

This is what the manager said in an interview, but that is not enough to stop the new rumours from popping out of nowhere. The manager, as promised, has completed his four major signings and now the window is closed.

According to the latest report from Manchester United evening News, Manchester United have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old Uruguayan striker Diego Rolan, who is also under the radar of many top clubs including Bayern Munich, Norwich, and Brighton representatives. Although Bordeaux didn’t receive any offer, it is understood that their star man has caught the eyes of some European giants.

Who Is Diego Rolan?

The 23-year-old attacker is an academy graduate of an Uruguayan club, Defensor Sporting, where he joined at the age of six. After graduating from the club in 2011, the youngster immediately was called up into the first team squad. In August 2011, he made his professional debut for the side and three months later, he scored his first goal for the team.

After spending two successful years with the club, making 38 appearances, scoring 10 goals, he then joined the French giants Bordeaux in February 2013, after rejecting some top offers from several big teams in Europe. The player recently completed his third season with the club and till date, he has 89 appearances to his name and also, 24 goals to his credit.

Talking about the international duty, the 23-year-old has represented the Uruguay national under-20 football team at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Furthermore, he has 17 senior caps to his name and also has three goals to his credit. He made his senior debut for the country back in 2014 in a friendly win against Japan and in May 2015, he was also included in Uruguay’s squad for the 2015 Copa América.

Style of Play:

Being a South-American blood, the 23-year-old is known for his amazing dribbling and ball control skills. Many footballing experts have also praised him for his natural attacking instinct and have described him as a player, who has a natural eye for goal. Furthermore, the 23-year-old is well capable of running up and down on the field, and that is because he possesses excellent stamina.

He is not the player who sits inside the box and waits for an opportunity to come, but is a player who loves to test the keeper at times and is never shy of doing the same from a distance. Rolan is physically strong and is also known for his playmaking skills. He is well capable of creating spaces for the teammates and his stat from the previous season thoroughly supports his cause as he created 50 chances for the team.

He is a calm and composed figure on the field and never looks dizzy when under pressure and that can easily help him to adapt the robust nature of the Premier League.  Further, to add to his tally, the 23-year-old can occupy the wider areas as well and from there, he loves to haunt his opponents with his skills.

All-in-all, the Uruguayan is a decent talent with great potential, but we personally think that he is not meant for the rugged nature of the Premier League (at least for now).  Rolan has just started establishing himself in the Ligue 1, and during that course, we certainly believe that he should continue his career with his current club for next few seasons.
