F.R.I.E.N.D.S Aired And Completed, Manchester United Domination: 7 Things That Have Happened Since Liverpool Last Won The League

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Thursday, February 3, 2011: Liverpool's new sigingings Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll with manager Kenny Dalglish during a photo-call at Anfield. The year was 1990 when the Anfield outfit, Liverpool, claimed their 18th (record, at that time) England’s first division title by beating the fellow English side Queens Park Rangers by two goals to one. It was QPR, who opened the scoring, but the strikes from Liverpool’s striker Ian Rush and winger John Barnes turned the tables.

Since then, a lot has happened on the planet, but the Merseysiders have failed to claim the 19th titles. It has been a quarter of a century, and they did manage to win the Champions League and the Europa League, but have failed to win the one, they are very proud of. The entire scenario of the footballing world has changed, and the sport has become more of a business, as some giant clubs have asserted their authorities on the sport. They did come close to snatch the 19th titles in the 2013-14 season, but everyone knows, how they managed to ‘Slip’ that.

As stated earlier, a lot has happened since the day Kenny Dalglish’s men lifted the 18th English crown, and so, here are some amazing things that have happened since Liverpool last won the league.

  1. Manchester United won 13 Premier League titles, 4 League cups and 2 Champions League:

Starting from the rivals, Manchester United. The Red half of Manchester are considered as the fierce rivals to Liverpool, and knowing the fact that how far their arch rivals have gone, might really hurt the Merseysiders. Talking specifically, under Alex Ferguson’s era, the Red Devils have went on and on to win 13 Premier League crowns and a record 20 (overall) since the day Liverpool won their last.

Not just that, they have also won 4 League cups and 2 Champions League titles since then.

  1. Premier League was formed:

Prem-1170x658

Back when Liverpool won the League (the record 18th), the title was known as the Football league cup. And 20 February 1992 was the date when the FA Premier League was formed and since then, Arsenal have won three Premier League titles, while Chelsea have four and Manchester City have two and even Blackburn Rovers won one, but Liverpool failed to grab any.

  1. Paul Scholes became a professional footballer, won 10 Premier crowns, retired, came back and won another Premier League title:

Scholes-Giggs

One of the greatest footballers in the sport, Paul Scholes, made his debut for Manchester United on 21 September 1994, and since then, the little English magician has helped his side, Manchester United, to win 10 Premier League medals and eventually in May 2011, he announced his retirement. But due to some major injury crisis in Manchester United’s squad, the ginger prince returned in the 2012-13 season and won another Premier League title before he finally decided to hung his boots on 11 May 2013.

  1. Same Sex Marriage was made Legal:

The world took a great step towards humanity as ‘Gay Marriage’ was made legal the United States. During the year 2001, the first law regarding the same-sex marriage enacted in Netherlands and as of now, same-sex marriage is legally allowed (nationwide or in some parts) in the following countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand,  Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Uruguay.

Of course, the world is advancing year after year, but Liverpool’s progress in terms of trophies has been stabilized.

  1. David De Gea was Born and won the title:

de gea

The last time when Liverpool won the title, Manchester United’s number one goalkeeper David De Gea was not even born. Well, the flying Spaniard did come to life the same year (1990) and went on to play with Atletico Madrid, with whom, he won one UEFA Europa League title, and was then transferred to Manchester United and with the Old Trafford outfit, he won the Premier League crown. So basically, it’s David De Gea 1 Liverpool 0.

  1. Mario Gotze was born, won 2 Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund, joined Bayern Munich and won 3 Bundesliga titles and eventually came back to Dortmund:

Just two years after Liverpool won the league, Mario Götze was born in Memmingen, Bavaria, Germany. The boy went on to become a professional footballer, progressed through Dortmund’s youth academy, and won two German titles with the yellow wall. And eventually, in 2014, he joined Bayern Munich, with whom, he grabbed three German titles. And after failing to break into the first team for Bayern, he came back to Dortmund.

Ohh, and yes, he also scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final.

  1. F.R.I.E.N.D.S aired and completed:

friends

Talking something outside of football, then since Liverpool last won an English crown, a television series known as Friends (of course everyone knows this) came into life on September 22, 1994. The television sitcom went on to air 10 seasons with 24 episodes in each season.

The series won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2002, receiving nominations in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, and 2003.

And also, an American Comedy Award, one GLAAD Media Award, one Golden Globe Award, three Logie Awards, six People’s Choice Awards, one Satellite Award, and one Screen Actors Guild Award. Even the television series won the awards, but Liverpool are still sniffing the grass of the Anfield.
