Food For Thought: 3 Reasons Why This Most Wanted Teenager Should Avoid Manchester United

The English club Manchester United have been doing a great business in the transfer market lately. Be it Louis van Gaal or Jose Mourinho, both the managers bought the world class names at the Theatre of Dreams even when team won’t be playing in the Champions League. Very recently, Jose Mourinho has concluded the signing of the Big Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Borussia Dortmund’s wonder star, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

With these two signings done, it is understood that the attacking line of the team has been completed and with Eric Bailly at the back, the manager has a perfect defensive duo as well.  Now, as it is clear that the Portuguese tactician is looking to sign his fourth and final player, the English media have been linking many many players with the team.

Many believe that Paul Pogba would be joining the team, but a recent report from the Sun has stated that United have made an enquiry about West Ham United’s wonder kid Reece Oxford, who is also on the radar of many English clubs, including Arsenal and Southampton. Reece has only played 7 games in the Premier League with West Ham, yet Jose Mourinho is aware of his talent and wants to sign him up.

The same source also reported that the red half of Manchester are ready to pay a fee of around £10m to the Hammers, but their boss Slaven Bilic is unwilling to let the 17-year-old depart from the team. Oxford was a shocking starter in West Ham’s opening game of last season against Arsenal and impressed many spectators with his skills.

As we all are aware of the fact that Mourinho is looking to make a big money move, we honestly think that Reece should avoid joining the Old Trafford outfit, here are the three reasons why:

  • No first-team space

The Hammers’ boss Slaven Bilic could actually offer Reece a first team place as the team will be contesting in the Europa League, but as we all are aware of the fact that Jose loves to stick with the same players, Reece will struggle to find a regular place in United’s lineup.

Even if there is a possibility of playing, United have so many their own academy products to promote to the senior team. Also, Mourinho prefers the players, who are physically tough to beat, like he had Matic and Azpilicueta at the Bridge, therefore, the players like Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin could easily beat the 17-year-old for the spot.

  • Jose Mourinho-

The one thing that Jose Mourinho has been criticized over the years was his policy to deal with the youngsters of the team. It is fair to say that Mourinho prefers the players, who have proved themselves time and time again and that easily cuts the playing time of the young graduates of the squad and Reece is no exception here.

Having played just seven league games in his career, Reece will find it hard to settle down according to Jose plans and that might frustrate the teenager a lot. No wonder that Jose is one of the best managers in the world, but even the best of all have some drawbacks and this is where Reece will be struck.

  •  Secured Future Under Bilic-

Being an academy graduate of West Ham United, Reece would find it easy to make it to West Ham’s first team rather than United’s. It is understood that the Hammers’ boss Slaven Bilic is looking to reshape the squad to compete in the Europa League and therefore, the Olympic Stadium is the perfect venue for the 17-year-old because this is where; he could get the assurance of a secured future.

It is reported that many clubs from England as well as from Germany are looking to hunt down the player, but Bilic is doing everything he can to cut down the negotiation and that shows at what extent Bilic wants Reece at his side. We honestly think that before making any rash decision, Reece must think twice.
