Step To Step Guide: 3 Positions Jose Mourinho Needs To Take Care At Manchester United

The transfer window has opened, and with United aiming to reach the stars again under new manager Jose Mourinho, some big signings are on the way for sure. Last season, we suffered in attack, as we managed to score a paltry 44 goals in the league. Moreover, our midfield was also unbearably slow and poor at times, and there was a dearth of spine in the squad. All those positions need to be addressed as soon as possible, and here are 3 signings United should not miss out this summer:

    • A striker-

A 20 goal a season striker is exactly the kind of firepower we need up front, and a centre forward should be a top Mourinho’s list right now. Zlatan Ibhrahimovic is being linked to the club, and several media houses, including Skysports has said that the Swede has signed a one year deal with us. As a stopgap solution, the 34 year old is probably the best one, given his superb relationship with the manager, his skill, his experience and of course, his inflammatory character. For long term, it would be a big boon to the likes of Marcus Rashford, Ashley Fletcher and James Wilson to watch and learn from him, and that is indeed a big plus for us.

  • A deep lying midfielder/box to box midfielder-

Like I had mentioned before, United urgently needs a strong character in the middle of the park. With Bastian injured and Carrick aging, the midfield needs a revamp. A deep lying playmaker or a box to box midfielder is what the Devils need at the moment, and someone in the mould of Paul Pogba or Marco Verrati would be brilliant for us. There are rumors linking us to Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, but I doubt if the Blues will sell someone so influential to their direct rivals.

  • A Centre Back-

Jose Mourinho has bought a young centreback wherever he has been, and this time, the young Villarreal defender Eric Bailly has been linked to us. Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo are both extremely unreliable defenders, and with Daley Blind likely to be sold, Chris Smalling needs a confident, technically sound partner at the back, which is exactly what Bailly seems to be. The Ivory Coast player is one of La Liga’s most promising stars, and he has it in him to make it big here.
