Who Would You Play: Strongest Possible Manchester United XI To Face Crystal Palace

Strongest Possible Manchester United XI To Face Crystal Palace

After a win at home in the Premier League over Aston Villa, Manchester United prepare themselves to face the 16th position Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

With just seven games remaining in the league, United must do everything they can to finish fourth by the end of the season. They must perform well in every match and conclude it with a satisfactory result and wait for Arsenal or Manchester City to slip in a couple of their remaining matches to make move to the top four.

Louis van Gaal must not try any new tactic or a whole new formation with players playing out of their role. He has to work with what has remained best this season to clinch the fourth spot.

Let’s look how the team may line-up against the Glaziers.

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Goalkeeper: David De Gea

De Gea has been amazingly consistent with his heroics, resulting in match winning saves. He obviously deserves to be in the starting XI more than any other player.

Defenders: Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Chris Smalling, Dailey Blind, Marcos Rojo

Fosu Mensah

Fosu-Mensah has improved his game by miles and has shown us what he’s capable of on the pitch. Fosu-Mensah was however benched against Aston Villa as he was not fit enough to play. We can expect him to start against Crystal Palace.

We know how our Dutch boss just loves Marcos Rojo and even after tons of poor display by the Argentine, van Gaal chooses to start him and disappoint the fans. We can expect the same to happen against The Eagles as well.

Chris Smalling and Dailey Blind will be the centre-backs as usual.

Midfielders: Morgan Schneiderlin, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini

Morgan Schneiderlin is the best defensive midfielder United have got and the recent in-use -formation of 4-1-4-1, the Frenchman is the clear choice to play as the lone player in between the centre and the box.  His performance against Aston Villa can alone buy him a place in the starting XI.

Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial will most probably be the ones used as wingers as Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini failed to deliver enough in this role.

Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini will be supporting the striker from behind at the centre attack.

Forward: Marcus Rashford

7 important goals in 12 games and there’s no stopping Rashford. The youngster has been in an amazing form since his debut can again win the match against the weaker party on Wednesday.

Substitutes:

Sergio Romero

Antonio Valencia

Juan Mata

Memphis Depay

Matteo Darmian

Michael Carrick

Ashley Young
