The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester United Players From Their 1-0 Win Against Sheffield United

de gea

David De Gea- 6

Had absolutely nothing to do. The only save he had to make was from a shot taken after the flag had been raised.

Matteo Darmian- 5

Still not able to recover his good form from the start of the season. He got forward on a few occasions but didn’t provide very much.

Chris Smalling- 6

Again one of the best players on the pitch for United even if he didn’t have much to deal with. Looked calm and confident at the back.

Daley Blind- 5.5

Didn’t have much to do defensively. Played a few good balls going forward including a beautiful diagonal towards Bastian Schweinsteiger. His set-piece delivery was also better however nothing could come of it.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson- 6

Looked to pick up after a good appearance from the bench against Chelsea. Did well defensively as well as going forward. Didn’t look phased by the stage at all.

Bastian Schweinsteiger- 4

The German was poor. Not sure if he’s tired or his age is catching up to him, but he didn’t dominate the mid-field at all. His lack of pace was also a problem once again.

Marouane Fellaini- 4

No point playing him as a defensive mid-fielder. He hardly made an impact. He’s best causing havoc in the box due to his physical presence.

Juan Mata- 4

Mata’s poor form continued. Another player being played out of position, who kept cutting inside without providing anything useful. His passing was mediocre.

Ander Herrera- 4

An underwhelming performance from the crowd favourite. Was hardly able to dictate play and barely found any space. Taken off in the second half.

Anthony Martial- 5

Started out on the left where he wasn’t too involved in the game. One of the few players out there who really looked like he was trying. Did much better when he was played through the middle late into the match.

Wayne Rooney- 5

Hardly made an impact apart from the match winning penalty. Every single time he received the ball, his back was towards the goal which didn’t help. His first touch was poor on more than one occasion.

Substitutes:

Memphis Depay- 6.5

Did well after he was introduced. Looked to run at the defence and take players on. Used good skill to draw the foul from the defender to win the penalty.

Jesse Lingard- 5

Looked lively soon after his introduction but could hardly make an impact.

Andreas Pereira- 5

Was brought on way too late though he looked lively with the ball at his feet.
