Manchester United Player Ratings vs CSKA Moscow: Schneiderlin Controlled The Midfield

Manchester United Player Ratings vs CSKA Moscow

Schneiderlin
Schneiderlin

United come away with a point after their 1-1 draw with CSKA. A terrible first half performance saw Untied go behind. A penalty was given after Martial was adjudged to have handled the ball deliberately in the area. David De Gea saved the resulting penalty however Seydou Doumbia was quickest to react and finished to give Moscow the lead. United created nothing in that first half with David De Gea having to make one or two crucial saves. The only bright spot in that first half was Jesse Lingard. Fellaini came on at half-time for Schweinsteiger and United played much better. They started dominating and it was no surprise when they equalized. Valencia’s cross met with a brilliant diving header by Anthony Martial.

David De Gea-6

Did well to save the penalty but unfortunately for him none of the United players reacted fast enough. He made another save or two in the first half but didn’t have much to do thereafter.

Antonio Valencia-6

Valencia provided a beautiful cross for United’s equalizer. He was good in parts, however, did get caught going forward.

Chris Smalling-6.5

Smalling was one of the better performers in United’s team. He made a few great tackles and read the danger well.

Phil Jones- 6.5

Phil Jones followed up from the weekend looking solid in defence once again. Made a few vital interceptions and did a good job alongside Smalling.

Marcos Rojo- 6

Rojo got caught out many times by marauding Mario Fernandes and didn’t have a great evening. Was replaced by Daley Blind in the second half.

Bastian Schweinsteiger-5

Bastian was removed at half-time and didn’t really influence the game very much. He wasn’t up with the pace of the game.

Morgan Schneiderlin-7

Schneiderlin was one of United’s best players. He had good control and looked to influence things.

Jesse Lingard- 6.5

Lingard was one of the bright spots for United. He looked good on the ball and wanted to make things happen.

Ander Herrera-6

Herrera couldn’t keep up his form playing as a number 10 again. He was unable to find any pockets of space and really make a difference.

Anthony Martial- 6

Although Martial gave away the penalty, he did very well to level for United scoring his first Champions League goal in 11 hours.

Wayne Rooney -5.5

Rooney often dropped way too deep to involve himself which meant there was no one trying to run in behind. The Goal against Everton hasn’t changed much for the skipper.

Substitutes:

Marouane Fellaini-5.5

Fellaini was sent on with a clear set of instructions, but he could not influence the game much. United were unable to get the ball into him as much as they would have liked.

Daley Blind- 5.5

Blind came on for Rojo at a time United were dominating and didn’t contribute too much.

Memphis -5.5

Memphis did absolutely nothing after coming on except losing the ball a few times.
