3 Players United Will Have To Be Wary Of – Bolton

Manchester United of course play Bolton at Old Trafford on Saturday in the Premier League and with that in mind it’s worth taking a look at these three players who we should be wary of going into the game.

Ivan Klasnic

One criticism of modern-day footballers is that they’re too soft and that they wouldn’t be able to handle playing in the ‘rock and roll’ era that was the 1960-70’s. One player who cannot be criticised is Klasnic whose life-story is a remarkable one.

Klasnic made his name with German giants Werder Bremen. Despite winning a league and cup double in 2004, he suffered two serious knee injuries before his life was put on hold when it was announced he was suffering from kidney failure in January 2007.

He spent a whole year out of the game whilst undergoing two kidney transplants after his body rejected a kidney from his father. The fact Klasnic has recuperated and has got his career back on track is a feat that deserves to be given the greatest amount of respect.

Zat Knight

There were great things expected of giant centre-back Knight at Fulham, especially he was capped twice by Sven-Goran Eriksson on England’s 2005 summer tour of America. After all here was a defender who seemingly could only get better.

He was 6’7’, quick, good on the ball and at 25 year of age had already built himself a good reputation. Sadly he never progressed to the level that perhaps he should have and was never close to England selection again.

Despite starting well at boy-hood club Aston Villa, Knight struggled with injuries and faded in his second season leaving to join Bolton in 2009 on. He’s a big threat from set-pieces and United’s defence must watch him like a hawk.

Nigel Reo-Coker

Perhaps it would be fair to say that Reo-Coker after a bright start to his career which saw him captain both West Ham and England’s U-21 side perhaps has underachieved over the last couple of years given the talent it was thought he possessed.

He never quite was at his best for Aston Villa despite making over 100 league appearances over four years and despite Bolton struggling at the bottom this season, he has settled well since joining in the summer adding much-needed experience in midfield.

Owen Coyle will be demanding a big performance from Reo-Coker who has the ability to ruffle up a few feathers in midfield as well as make a difference in the box. It’s a big ask but the former Wimbledon captain won’t give up.
