3 Players United Will Have To Be Wary Of – QPR

Manchester United  face QPR at Loftus Road on Sunday in the Premier League. So with that in mind it’s worth taking a look at these three players who we should be wary of going into the game:

Joey Barton

Despite only being 29, Barton has had enough twists in his career already that he could if he wanted to (not that he would want to) have enough stories to fill up the pages of at least three blockbuster autobiographies, which funnily would sell like there’s no tomorrow.

The twitter-happy midfielder has done well to get his career back on track at QPR after hitting rock-bottom towards the end of his spell at Manchester City and at the beginning of his controversial four-year spell with Newcastle United.

After getting the move that he wanted, he has performed well for Neil Warnock and has brought experience and leadership to a team that looked like a bunch of miss-fit’s at the start of the season. Being a former City player, he will be up for frustrating United.

Jay Bothroyd

He may have been labelled as a ‘one cap wonder’ after coming on for England last year at Wembley against France, but the former Arsenal youth graduate has worked hard over the last couple of years to have the right to call himself a Premier League striker.

Arsene Wenger rated him highly at Arsenal but decided to let Bothoyd go after a falling-out between the striker and the club. Despite showing glimpses of class at Coventry and Wolves, it was only under Dave Jones at Cardiff that the striker started to consistently bang in goals.

Surprisingly after Cardiff failed to achieve promotion last season, Warnock swooped for the striker on a free. He will have to work hard and run the channels this weekend if he is trouble United but despite only scoring twice this season he cannot be written off.

Radek Cerney

Due to injury to Warnock’s first choice keeper Paddy Kenny, Czech international Radek Cerny is currently behind the sticks for QPR. The Irishman had been one of the experienced manager’s first names on his team-sheet whilst at Sheffield United.

With the Irishman being out for at least 2 months due to a calf injury, Cerny now has the chance to prove to his manager that he is good enough to play in the Premier League. At Anfield againgst Liverpool last weekend, he impressed making a number of saves.

The Premier League though can be a punishing place and the Czech will be under imense pressure this weekend againgst Wayne Rooney and co. It may prove too big a task for Cerny to deal with but you can never write any keeper off, especially one from Ludek Miklosko’s birthplace.
