Manchester United Tickets and beating Liverpool and City

Manchester United have a crucial series of 6 games in 18 days (from 15th October to 2nd November) that will in many ways shape the rest of their season.

The Premier League title, Champions League knockout round qualification and grooming the ‘next’ United team (i.e. a Carling Cup match) all happen in 18 heady days – hopefully this will be another case of United’s famous squad strength coming to the fore.

Manchester United v Manchester City

Rarely do local derbies turn into title-clinching matches but you’d think that both City and United, on early-season form, are front-runners for the league title and it might be the games between these two sides that end up deciding which half of Manchester lifts the trophy in May. Where United have gone slightly backwards in terms of keeping clean sheets, City have found a new attacking gear this season.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the two teams fare when playing at full strength against each other – and with Vidic expected to be back for United and Aguero / Silva likely to be playing as well, it’s the one game in October you shouldn’t miss.

You can buy your tickets to Man Utd v Man City (23rd October 2011) starting from £247 from TicketBis.

Liverpool v Manchester United

Before United play City, they have the small matter of navigating to and from Anfield this Saturday. It’s safe to say that with new personnel at the core of both teams, neither United nor Liverpool will play according to the template that’s been built up in recent years.

You can expect United to attack and show much more mobility than they did last season (although worryingly United tend to underperform in and lose this fixture recently), and Liverpool, while not being as keen on the counter, can be expected to be a tad bit more defensive to negate United’s attacking players.

Manchester United v Otelul Galati

Two games, home and away. Six points that are badly needed after getting just two points from their first two Champions League games. Manchester United had always planned to win these two games but with the added pressure to win to keep in the hunt for knock-out stage qualification and need to rotate the squad to keep key players fresh, these two games may well be tougher than initially expected.

There’s also an away trip to Everton (the same weekend when Arsenal visit Chelsea) and a League Cup tie away to Aldershot (great news for the League Two club as well as Messrs Owen and Berbatov). United play a game every three days starting from Saturday, and if they can get Cleverely, Vidic and Rio back to full fitness for this spell, you might well see United putting some light between themselves and the chasing back by 5th November, when they host Sunderland at Old Trafford.
