3 Players United Will Have To Be Wary Of – Arsenal

Manchester United of course play Arsenal this afternoon at Old Trafford and with that in mind it’s worth taking a look at these three players who we should be wary of going into the game.

Bacary Sagna

Over the last four seasons, few would argue that Arsenal’s right-back has been the best in his position in the Premier League since joining from Auxerre where before hand of course at least on English shoes very little was known about him.

Whilst other defenders at Arsenal have made high-profile errors, Sagna from his very first games in the division back in 2007 has flourished and at only 28 years old, offers Arsene Wenger great experience which the Gooners badly need right now.

Today it appears that the modern full back has to not only be great defensively but good going forward. Sagna ticks both of those boxes and there’s no doubt whilst he will have his work cut out at the back, he has the ability to frustrate United’s wingers.

Wojceich Szczesny

Over the last 18 months or so, Jack Wilshere has been lavishly praised as the best young talent to have come through at the Emirates. As good as the Englishman is, perhaps it’s unfair to discount the efforts and quality of their Polish goalkeeper.

Despite only being 21, Szczesny starts this season deservedly so as Arsenal’s first-choice keeper and despite Arsenal’s shaky start has looked reliable and impressive early on, looking like a goalkeeper with 10-12 years of experience on his young shoulders.

The Polish international is improving game by game and after excelling in midweek against Udinese with a penalty save that virtually secured Arsenal’s passage through to the Champions League proper, he will be extremely confident going into today’s game.

Robin van Persie

Make no make mistake about it, Arsenal’s talisman this season will be their new captain van Persie, who after a disappointing start to last season burst into life in the new year to finish with 22 goals last season, which is a career-best for the Dutchman.

Elegant on the eye and on the ball, van Persie has won many admirers in eight seasons in England and whilst his success has been limited due to injuries he has the ability to hurt any defence in the world anywhere on the pitch.

In many ways he’s a combination of his strike-partners Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry and is a scorer of ‘great’ goals rather than a tap-in merchant. Interestingly enough he has yet to score a goal at Old Trafford and United fans will be hoping that he won’t have done so after today
