Slovakia’s Captain Linked With Old Trafford Move

According to reports in caughtoffside.com Napoli’s Marek Hamsik has been lined up as an alternative for Manchester United, should we be unable to buy one of our two midfield targets in Wesley Sneijder or Samir Nasri.

Hamsik has grown into one of Europe’s best attacking midfielders in recent years and despite only being 23 year old has 7 seasons of experience in Italy. Hamsik’s form has been vital to Napoli’s success over the last two seasons and caught more attention last season when the Partenopei finished third to secure Champions League football for next season.

The Slovakian captain would no doubt be a player who would excite fans at Old Trafford and in England and fit into United’s system well. However rumours suggest he has a buyout clause of around €40-50m as Napoli are desperate to hold onto him as they look to make a real mark in Europe’s elite club competition this coming season.

Other top clubs across Europe have also been linked with Hamsik, with AC Milan reportedly taking a strong interest in the player. It looks highly unlikely though that we will make any approach for the player as more reports seem to suggest a move for Sneijder is on the brink of being completed.

As for our intrest in Nasri, Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that the Arsenal midfielder would not be joining us, saying that he thinks the Frenchman has ‘agreed to go somwhere else’ should he leave the Gooners.
